Adalisa Menghini

She studied at the Academy of Dance in Rotterdam, then at the School for New Dance Development of Amsterdam under the tuition of Pauline de Groot, Julien Hamilton, Steve Paxton, Nancy Stark Smith, etc…
Completed her education, then returned to Italy, where together with the stage designer Antonio Utili from Teatro Comunale of Ferrara for a period of three years was responsible for the choreography and direction of GIOCABRIGA, a traditional Theater genre that works with entire population of a town: Bergantino.
She was twice awarded with Best Director and Choreography.
Adalisa Menghini is a performer whose interest lies both in improvisation and choreography. She has worked and collaborate in projects with different artists (Joshiko Chuma, Kirstie Simson, Julien Hamilton, Be Van Vark, Labor Grass, Livia Patrizi, Kazue Ikeda, Andrew Harwood, Stephany Maher…) and has shown several productions of her own, throughout Europe.
Her own productions in Berlin: Sauersüßer Tango, Corpo a Corpo, Geometrico Smidt, Vasco e Delfina, 2etto N.1 Was ist Tanz? .
Since 1981 she is studying and dancing contact and improvisation, since 1990 she teaches it throughout Europe, most recently in Weimer, invited by L.A.G. Teather Touringer, at the International Contact and Improvisation Festival of Freiburg and for the second time at the International Contact Festival of Israel where she was performing as well.
Since 1994 she is a regular teacher of Contact Improvisation at the TanzFabrik Berlin.
Since 2005 she is collaborating with TanzZeit-Teit fur Tanz in Schulen, by teaching and choreographing in primary schools.
Since 2003 she is collaborating with GestAzione, an Italian-German association performing in unusual spaces like train stations, museum, old castles, focusing on social issue: immigration, exile, war...
