Michele Rabbia
percussionist
He was born in Turin in 1965 and started playing percussions when he was 15, attending classical studies at the Liceo musicale di Savigliano, under the guide of Giorgio Artoni (percussionist at the Parma Theatre).
In the same time he studied drums with Enrico Lucchini in Turin.
In 1986 he moved to the United States were followed Alan Dawson and Joe Hunt's lessons.
In the first '90 he came back to Italy and moved to Rome, where started his collaborations with different musicians: Antonello Salis, Charlie Mariano, Louis Sclavis, Stefano Battaglia, Marilyn Crispell, Michel Godard, Enrico Rava, Paul McCandless, Enrico Pieranunzi, Matthew Shipp, Dominique Pifarely, Rita Marcotulli, Vincent Courtois, Sainkho Namtchylak, Aires Tango, Gabriele Mirabassi, Maria Pia De Vito, Bruno Chevillon, Jean-Paul Celea, Italian Instabile Orchestra, Sebi Tramontana, Gianluca Petrella, Giovanni Maier, Francesco Bearzatti, Paolo Damiani, Roberto Ottaviano, to list some of them.
His interest in other forms of art is the reason for his collaboration with dancers and choreographers: Teri J. Weikel, Andrew Harwood, Giorgio Rossi, Ray Chung, Khosro Adibi and Rossella Fiumi.
He also played in several movie and theatre sound tracks. He was in the best Italian music festivals and toured in France, Turkey, Germany, Austria, China, Kenya, Moroc, Spain, Holland, Switzerland.
