Rossella Fiumi
Is an independent artist, choreographer, dancer, performance maker, teacher and artistic director of Zipfest.
She lives in Rome. Originally classical and modern dance studies, she then developed her contemporary dance background with postmodern and new dance generation teachers, as well as with Release Technique, Butoh, Contact improvisation and Improvisation.
Her work is influenced by studies and working relationships with Dominique Dupuy, Masaki Iwana, Daniel Lepkoff, Lisa Nelson.
She has chosen
Orvieto as her artistic residence where she has been directing her studio, a center for dance formation and venue of the ALEFdanzaateatro Company, since 1984.
Since 1987 her productions have been shown in Italy and abroad (Germany, Spain, Poland, Portugal, Brazil, Mexico), and she has produced numerous artistic projects in these years with musicians, dancers, actors, musicians, visual artists, video-makers, photographers and theater directors, in an incessant interdisciplinary study.
In 2004 she has coined the Company's new identity under the name
Caravajal15 residenza dinamica.


Since 1984, alongside her work as a choreographer and dancer, she has been organizing international events and workshops, inviting a host of international dance performers, to Orvieto, to collaborate in her projects. They include: Simone Forti, Lisa Nelson, Daniel Lepkoff, Ray Chung, Andrew Harwood, K.J. Holmes, Dieter Heitkamp, and many others.

She has participated, both as a performer and a teacher, in European improvisation projects and in Contact Improvisation, such as Tanzfabrik Berlin 1991 - 1993; Festival Valencia 1994; ECITE in Budapest 2000; International Contact Freiburg Festival 2004 and 2005; XII Quinzena in Lisbon 2004, Crossroads Warsaw 2004, St. Petersburg 2006…
In 2002, she was invited to the DAMS University in Rome (Roma Tre), where she gave a theoretical seminar and work demonstrations on Contact Improvisation and Improvisation, at the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy.
She holds Contact Improvisation and Improvisation workshops in Italy and abroad; most recently invited by Romaeuropa Promozione Danza - Organization for the Promotion of Dance, for a master of Contact Improvisation for the Institution I.U.S.M., (University Institute of the Science of Movement).
Since 2000 she has been organizing Zipfestival, in the city of Orvieto.
