Alessia Scala

Trained in ballet and contemporary dance; she then moves to London from 1998 till 2002 where she studies Release Technique and Contact Improvisation, whose principles inform her movement research and the activity as teacher.
She is a awarded of a Master of Art in Choreography and performing Arts at the Middlesex University, London. Important for her artistic process the workshops with: Ivan Wolfe, David Zambrano, Frey Faust, Joan Skinner, Danio Manfredini, Masaki Iwana, Kirstie Simson, Silvia Rampelli, Rossella Fiumi.
She also practices Tai-Chi, Capoeira and Aikido. She has danced with several dance companies, participated in various dance projects, taught classes and workshops in Italy and abroad and in the mean while started to create her own dances. In 2005, with the duet Proxemics she is short-listed at the XII Biennale of young artist of Europe and Mediterranean countries.
In 2007, with the solo Organic she is among the emergent choreographers selected for the research project CHOREOGRAPHIC COLLISION, Biennale Dance of Venice, 5° International Festival of Contemporary dance.
