Barnaby O'Rorke Tree

Is a performer, composer, musician.
Over the years he has trained in chi kung, yoga (ashtanga, vinyasa), butoh muscle and bone, contact/release dance, dance improvisation, vocal development, pranayama and meditation, cello, piano and saxophone.
Among his major achievements he received commissions from Lisbon EXPO 98; Arnolfini, Bristol; De La Ware Pavillion, Bexhill; Green Room, Manchester; Rhythm Method Festival, London; Dance Umbrella London; Brighton Festival and South East Dance Agency; Podewill Theatre, Berlin; Klapstuk Arts Center Luven Belgium and received funding from Arts Council GB, Skite 96 Lisbon and South East Arts.
He worked and collaborated with Lisa Nelson, Steve Paxton, Derevo, Miriam King, Charlie Morrissey, Becky Edmunds, Ginny Farnam, Rui Nunes, Shinkansen, Vera Mantero, Sophie Moleta, Liz Agis and Divas, K.J. Holmes, Scott Smith, Stephanie Maher, Sten Rudstrom, Peter Thompson, Sharon Lewis, Gesine Daniels, Valija Zinch.
He taught Voice and Body work at Brighton University, Visual and Performance Arts course.
In 2007 he participated in M&de, Music and Dance exchange, at Dartington Hall, met Alice Tatge, Ellen Kilsgaard and Sri (he will be working with them this year..), spent the second half of the year living in Berlin working with Valija Zinck on the duet Wenn ich allein bin tuer ich nicght besonderes, performing it in Koln, Berlin and Freiburg. While in Berlin he performed his solo work with cello and voice in clubs and for dance jams.
In Bonn he collaborated with Gesine Daniels on her street dance project Banke and also went to the Czech republic for the festival held in Kostelec and performed The formations of clouds and other songs.
Back in Berlin he played for the Butoh festival lead by Adrian Shepherd and K-ita.
In 2006 he edited his third album, Like Nothing Ever Before, a collection of 13 compositions, and also continued a smattering of concerts with improvisation band Omnivor Treekle.


In 1992 he awarded first for Visual and Performance arts, B.A. Honors Degree, theatre studies, Brighton University.
In 1993 he won British Telecom New Contemporaries, award for artwork, for a touring show.
In 1992-1995 he ran and toured in England, Czechlands and Germany with Raukus Mir, performance duet with Miriam King, supported by South East Arts, producing physical performance in unusual situations, Maraluna's Cabinet, We Straddle.
Much of 2004 and 2005 he spent living in Goa\India helping to run a yoga center and writing.
Over the years he has collaborated with many dance and theatre practitioners making and performing music/dance in production. Alongside this work he has developed his own skills as a solo performer and that has been a stable base for his work every since he was 18.
He now has a large repertoire of original performance songs, which include movement, poetry and light.
